Terminology
- Smoothing Parameter is used to smooth ATS (Adaptive Transformation Score) Function. In general a larger smoothing parameter tends to produce a smoother curve with lower variance and potentially higher bias. For numerical variables, the value of Smooth Parameter is from 0.1 to 1. Research results have shown that 0.6 works well for most applications, and thus this value is used as system default value. Smooth Paramter does not apply to categorical variables. The value is set to 0 and can not be changed.
